Can your morning coffee keep your brain healthy?

Research Doctor Donal Weaver says it can. "Coffee consumption does seem to have some correlation to a decreased risk of developing Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease," notes Dr. Donald Weaver, who is co-director of the Krembil Brain Institute. And the study shows it's not the caffeine that does the job. The coffee bean roasting process releases phenylindanes, which help keep toxic proteins from building up in the brain. And these toxic proteins have been found to be a key factor in conditions like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. So far it appears that dark roasted coffee has the most phenylindanes, and may be best for brain protection.
